Ellon started the first period really well and Jamie Seater was unlucky not to open the scoring when one on one with the keeper but was thwarted by the keepers legs.Nairn Cain had an effort that was well saved by the keeper as Ellon started to dominate with Cameron Grant and Richie Connon crafting the chances. Ross Cartney played a wonder pass which split the Colony defence  for Jamie Seater but he was denied again by the keeper. Ellon opened the scoring when after a scramble in the penalty area Jamie Seater was on hand to tuck away. Ross Connon and Shaun Balgowan were sniffing out any danger and starting play off from the back.
In the second period Ellon made five changes and Jamie Smith created an opening for Shaun Buckle but the Colony defence got back to clear. Josh Malcolmson burst forward from midfield and his shot was well saved onto the bar before Cameron Gray volleyed home to go 2-0 up. Shaun Buckle burst forwrad and his effort hit the post and Cameron Gray was in the right place as the ball hit him and ended up in the back of the net for 3-0. Cameron Munro was dominating at the back as the second period ended Ellon 3-0 ahead.
In the third period Ellon made another five changes and continued to create chances but Colony were starting to get back in the game and their number 8 was causing problems bursting forward from midfield. Colony pulled one back when they shot from the edge of the box and the effort was heading to the top corner before Gregor dived full length to keep out and Ellon failed to clear as the ball was scrambled home. Colony then added another from a corner and both teams were creating chances as Ellon run out 3-2 winners.
